On Jan. 3, outgoing Attorney General Loretta Lynch secretly signed an order directing the National Security Agency — America’s 60,000-person-strong domestic spying apparatus — to make available raw spying data to all other federal intelligence agencies, which then can pass it on to their counterparts in foreign countries and in the 50 states upon request. She did so, she claimed, for administrative convenience. Yet in doing this, she violated basic constitutional principles that were erected centuries ago to prevent just what she did.
Here is the back story…
HWH Comment: Being an African American one might think that Loretta Lynch would be more sensitive to the freedom rights of individual Americans. That doesn’t appear to be the case here. That it was done in secret should alarm everybody.
The NSA spies on all American citizens. Sending that information at will into foreign countries that could and will intercept it puts every American citizen at risk of harm as well as being spied on by foreign countries simply because the USA is spying on us. The USA spies on vastly more innocent people than questionable people, which makes this secret move by Loretta Lynch all the more dangerous and potentially harmful to USA citizens.
I hope Donald Trump revokes this secret order that puts every American citizen in danger.
