Introduced by Congressmen Alcee Hastings (D-FL), the resolution urges the governments of China, South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, India, and all other nations to ban the dog and cat meat trade. Additionally, it requests that the executive branch include the issue on the agenda for discussion with officials of countries that have a dog or cat meat industry.
In June 2017, LCA met with Congressman Hastings and presented him with an award in recognition of his efforts to bring an end to the dog and cat meat industry.
